What We Do
We are a policy and practice research institute that undertakes policy research and analysis in Kenya. This is based on the belief that locally generated information is far more useful to a policy-maker than an imported idea that has to be domesticated to solve a particular local problem.
While international agencies have made commendable effort in supporting various kinds of research in Africa, little attention has been given to supporting national or regional policy-linked research organisations on a sustainable basis.
It is for this reason that the Center for Research and Technology Development (RESTECH) was established in 2010 to promote policy linked research work towards concentrating the scarce resources (human, material and financial) in selected policy research areas in Kenya. The Center emphasises multi-disciplinary resource governance research that impact on and influence policy development, especially for the vulnerable groups.
